Gordon says: ‘This rich, sweet olive oil bread is enjoyed over Christmas in the South of France, where it is known as pompe à l’huile. You’ll need to prepare a “starter” to get the dough going, so do plan ahead with this recipe.’

*As it is considered bad luck to slice the bread, it should be torn into pieces at the table.
